# Moderation Logs

> Record warnings, kicks, bans, Ban BOLOs, and notes for players in your server.

***

## What are Moderation Logs?

Moderation logs are your server's record of every punishment. Each log stores the player, the type of punishment, the reason, and the staff member who issued it.

Logs build a player's history, so the next moderator can see their previous punishments before deciding what to do.

## Log Types

| Type | Use it for |
| - | - |
| Warning | Minor rule breaks. Counts toward previous punishments. |
| Kick | Removing a player from the current session. Counts toward previous punishments. |
| Ban | Removing a player from your server. Resets the previous punishments count. |
| Ban Bolo | Flagging a player to be banned when they're next seen. |
| Note | Internal staff notes. Not sent to the player. |
| Custom types | Your server's own log types (Melonly Plus). |

Each log type needs its own role permission, set in [Roles](/Dashboard/roles). Types you can't use are greyed out.

## Related Settings

These are set by your server's management under **Dashboard → Panel**:

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| Create Ban BOLO after Punishment Logs Count Reached | Creates a Ban BOLO automatically when a player gets enough warnings and kicks. |
| Allow Users to see their own Logs | Lets players view their own logs, and enables Hide from user. |
| Punishment Presets | Saved reasons staff can apply in one click (Melonly Plus). |
| Custom Log Types | Your own log types beyond the five built-in ones (Melonly Plus). |

<Info>
If your server turns on **Shift Logging** in [Dashboard → Activity → Shifts](/Dashboard/activity/shifts), staff must be on shift to create logs. Administrators skip this.
