# Appealing an Infraction

> Appeal an infraction or suspension, check your appeal's status, and appeal again after a denial.

## What is an Appeal?

An appeal asks a server's staff to take another look at an infraction or suspension. If they approve it, it's voided and its points no longer count.

You can appeal anything that hasn't been voided or expired, if the server accepts appeals.

## Submitting an Appeal

    Open [Infractions](https://melonly.xyz/my/infractions), pick the server, and click **Appeal** (or **Appeal Suspension**) on the row.

    The top of the page shows who issued it, when, the reason and the points.

  <Step title="Answer the questions">
    Fill in the server's appeal form. Questions marked with an asterisk are required.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit">
    Click **Submit appeal**.

You can only have one pending appeal per infraction.

## After You Submit

Your appeal shows as pending until staff review it. Melonly DMs you when it's reviewed if Receive DMs for Infractions is on in [Account Settings](/Guides/account/settings#direct-message-preferences).

| Result | What it means |
| - | - |
| Approved | The infraction or suspension is voided. |
| Denied | It stays. You may be able to appeal again. |
| Discarded | Staff closed the appeal without a decision. |

Open the appeal again to see who reviewed it and their response.

## Appealing Again

If your appeal was denied and the server allows re-appeals, click **Appeal again**. Servers can set a cooldown, counted from when your last appeal was reviewed. The button unlocks once it's over.
