# LOA Settings

> Set LOA request rules, duration limits, and the DMs members get.

## What are LOA Settings?

These settings decide what members must fill in, how long an LOA can be, and which messages go out. Click **Save** after changing anything.

## General

| Setting | Description |
| - | - |
| Copy Request Link | Copies the link members use to request an LOA |
| Require Reason | Members must give a reason |
| Require Denial Reason | Reviewers must give a reason when denying a request or extension |
| Require End Date | Members must pick an end date |
| Disallow Shifts on Leave of Absence | Members on an active LOA can't start a [shift](/Department/activity/shifts) |

## Duration

| Setting | Description |
| - | - |
| Submission Cooldown | Days a member must wait after a decision before requesting again |
| Minimum Leave of Absence Days | The shortest LOA a member can request |
| Maximum Leave of Absence Days | The longest LOA a member can request |

Leave a field empty or set it to 0 to remove that limit.

## Message Customization

| Setting | Description |
| - | - |
| LOA Submission Mention Role | Discord roles mentioned when a request comes in. Needs a linked Discord server. |
| Customize LOA DMs | Edit the DMs members get when they submit, cancel, or are approved or denied |

  | `{reason}` | The member's reason. In the Denied DM, the denial reason. |
  | `{loareason}` | The member's reason. Approved and Denied DMs only. |
  | `{reviewreason}` | The reviewer's reason. Approved and Denied DMs only. |
  | `{reviewer}` | Who reviewed the request. Approved and Denied DMs only. |
  | `{approvereason}` | The approval reason. Approved DM only. |
  | `{denyreason}` | The denial reason. Denied DM only. |
