# Groups

> Work together as squads, apparatus, rigs or vehicles, join premade groups, and create or manage groups.

## What are Groups?

Groups let units work together. A group is dispatched as one entry and everyone in it shares the call. Each panel names them differently: Squads (Police), Apparatus (Fire), Rigs (EMS) and Vehicles (DOT).

* A group holds up to 4 units (premade groups can be smaller).
* Only Police, Fire, EMS and DOT units can be in groups.

## Premade Groups

Admins create premade groups in [Customization](/CAD/Admin/customization/groups-statuses#premade-groups). Anyone can click **Join group** or **Leave group**, or pick one when editing their unit. Some are limited to one agency.

## Creating and Managing Groups

  Creating and managing groups needs the Dispatch panel, or the panel's supervisor permission.

* Drag units onto the groups pane, or right-click and choose **Add to Group**, then **New group**.
* Drag units back onto Active Units to remove them.
* Right-click a group to rename or disband it.

If your server turns on Only Premade Groups in [Config](/CAD/Admin/config#general-settings), new groups can't be created.
