# Bonds, Jail & Fines

> Revoke bonds, edit or end jail sentences, and manage unpaid fines from the Law panel.

***

## What are Bonds, Jail and Fines?

After a case is decided, the Law panel tracks what the civilian owes or is serving. The **Bonds**, **Jail** and **Unpaid Fines** cards let you change or end any of these.

***

## Bonds

The **Bonds** card shows posted bonds and bond hearings waiting for a decision. Click a pending hearing to [decide it](/CAD/User/court-cases#deciding-a-case).

To revoke a posted bond, click **Revoke Bond**. The civilian goes back to jail and the case becomes a bond hearing again, so you can set a new bond or deny it.

Deleting a record also closes its bonds and court cases.

***

## Jail

The **Jail** card lists everyone serving a sentence, with the time left and release date.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the sentence">
    Click a row in the **Jail** card.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change or end it">
    Enter a new remaining time (up to 36,500 RP days) and click **Save sentence**, or click **End sentence** to release them now.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Time left is in RP days, rounded up to a whole day. Ending a sentence doesn't lift a hold for bond or trial.

***

## Unpaid Fines

The **Unpaid Fines** card has two tabs: fines from court convictions, and fines from tickets that passed their deadline. Click a fine to manage it.

| Action | What it does |
| - | - |
| Amount | Change what's owed, then click Save |
| Dismiss | Cancel the fine |
| Collect now | Take the amount from the civilian's balance straight away, even if it goes below zero |

Civilians can also pay their own fines from the [Court Hub](/CAD/User/court-dmv-hub#fines).
