# Self Dispatching

> Create, edit and end your own calls without a dispatcher, and save call templates you use often.

## What is Self Dispatching?

Self dispatching lets you create, edit and end your own calls without a dispatcher. It's handy when no dispatcher is online, or for calls you start yourself like patrols and traffic stops.

## Creating a Call

<Steps>
  <Step title="Turn on Self Dispatch">
    Click **Self Dispatch** in the top bar. Your call card becomes editable.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the call">
    With no current call, a new one opens filled in with your unit and location. Add a **Call Title** and anything else you need.

  <Step title="Create it">
    Click **Create Call**.

On a call, you can **Save** changes or **End Call**. By default, a call closes automatically when its last unit leaves.

## What You Can Do

| Action | Regular units | Supervisors |

| Edit or end a call | Only calls they created | Any call |

## Call Fields

  | Units | Units and groups on the call. Drag units here to add them. |
  | Call Title | Required. Type freely or pick a suggestion for your panel. |
  | Postal / Address | Where the call is. Use Set from map to pick it on the map. |
  | Status | Required. Pending or Open. Calls with units are always Open. |
  | Type | Required. Emergency or Civil. |
  | Origin | Dispatch, Walk-up, Caller, Report, On-sight or Radio |
  | Primary Unit | The lead unit |
  | Code | A code from your server's 10-Codes list (45 characters max) |
  | Priority | One of your server's priorities |
  | Caller details | Shown for Caller calls. Fill Caller searches civilians to fill them in. |
  | Description | Free text |

## Saved Call Templates

Save calls you make often. Fill in the form and click the save icon next to **Saved Call Templates**, then pick it from the list next time.

You can keep up to 50, and they follow your account across devices. They also work with the NEW and SI commands in the [Command Bar](/CAD/Intro/interface/command-bar#saved-calls).
